PTI Stamp-A-Faire 2017, 10th Anniversary (Tin/Aluminum)

8/31/17
10th Anniversary (Tin/Aluminum) with Carissa Wiley
Supplies: PTI Wish Big Die, Cuttlebug embossing folder
(birthday candles), Nuvo Gilding Flakes (silver).

Just had to get one last card in tonight...I have not ever
used my "Wish Big" die as it is a bit intimidating to me in
size. So this is a perfect challenge to use my silver Nuvo
Gilding flakes and have the sentiment take center stage.
It is a simple card but gets the message across in a big
manner. :)          Good night!

PTI Stamp-A-Faire 2017, 10th Anniversary (Tin/Aluminum)

8/30/17
10th Anniversary (Tin/Aluminum) with Laurie Schmidlin
Supplies: PTI Noted: Scalloped A2 Vertical Die, Warmest
Wishes (sentiment), Cuttlebug embossing folder, heavy
duty tinfoil, StazOn (Claret, Emerald City, Ganache),
Distress Ink (black soot, chipped sapphire, dusty concord),
Distress Oxide (faded jeans), white acrylic paint.

Laurie has an intriguing technique for this FINAL challenge
(yay, made it to the 10th)! I could not find any tin sheets at my
local craft store. I used quadrupled heavy duty aluminum foil, being skeptical that Laurie's technique would work on this.
I was surprised that the foil worked just fine in my embossing folder! The only problem with tinfoil is that it is in layers and tends to separate since the layers are not adhered together. This makes the embellishment a bit fragile to handle. It sure
does come out pretty though...I'll have to look for the sheets
at other craft stores.  It has been a fun 6 days tho I need a
week off after working on the challenges (and I did not get to
all of them).   >.<   Thanks for stopping by!

PTI Stamp-A-Faire 2017, 9th Anniversary (Pottery)

8/30/17
9th Anniversary (Pottery) with Lexi Daly.
Supplies: PTI Tinsel & Tags, Mix & Mat: Pinked Edge,
Holiday Word die, PTI Dye Ink (New Leaf, Pure Poppy,
Honey Nut), Spellbinders 2011 Heirloom Ornaments,
Creative Paperclip, Perfect Pearls (Bronze).

Okay, this card probably took me the longest to make!
It has been in the high 90's here in Southern California
and I made my paperclay embellishment yesterday thinking
it would dry overnight. Wrong! It was still damp this morning.
Luckily, one of the ornament shapes I made was thinner than
the other and I was able to get that one dry to finish my card.
The ink colors I first stamped onto the wet clay were so
vibrant. I was so disappointed this morning when the colors
were all faded (you could barely see the images). I went back
in and hand-painted the colors. My feeling is that it would be better to stamp the images after the clay has been cut and is allowed to dry. I plan to try this method out in the future.

PTI Stamp-A-Faire 2017, 8th Anniversary (Bronze)

8/30/17

8th Anniversary (Bronze) with Kimberly Crawford
Supplies: PTI Celebrate BIG, Multiply Die, Mix & Mat:
Herringbone, Perfect Pearls (Bronze), Paper Source
(Night).

This has got to be the easiest card I made for the
entire PTI Stamp-A-Faire, but it is a very nice masculine
card. The Perfect Pearls technique that Kimberly shows
us is so easy but just gorgeous! I love the shimmer that
Perfect Pearls give...for sure, I'll be using this on many
more cards.

BTW, I tried Kimberly's method of adhering the Perfect
Pearls to a die-cut word ("merry") in my card I made for
Lexi's Pottery technique. I layered "merry" 5 times with
the last layer embellished with the bronze Perfect Pearls.
It looks wonderfully rich. :)

PTI Stamp-A-Faire 2017, 7th Anniversary (Wool) 2

8/29/17
7th Anniversary (Wool) with Debbie Olson
Supplies: PTI Stitched Circles, Stitched Circles (holes only),
Sweet Shoppe Sentiments, Cocoa Bean Dye Ink, Stamp-in
Up label punch (large/small).

I enjoyed making some felt cookies as inspired by Debbie
Olson. Dusted off my stitch die collection and had fun looking
for what would make good cookies. I made a sugar cookie
decorated with red and green sprinkles, an Oreo cookie and
a vanilla sandwich cookie. I want to make more later... one
of my granddaughter (almost 4) would like these!

PTI Stamp-A-Faire 2017, 7th Anniversary (Wool)

8/29/17
7th Anniversary (Wool) with Heather Nichols
Supplies: PTI autumn scarecrow, Tag Sale: Quilted
Die, Cocoa Bean Dye Ink, Lawn Fawn Small Stitched
Leaves, Copic Sketch, misc. felt.

Heather's layering and stitching technique on die-cut
felt shapes was definitely a challenge! I was not sure
the smaller maple leaves were going to work...I think
that some simple stitching along the lines would have
been fine. Adding double layers seems to make the
leaves bulky (probably would work better on some
larger die-cut leaves). I decided to go with a simple
tag this time. TFL!

PTI Stamp-A-Faire 2017, 6th Anniversary (Iron) 2

8/28/17
6th Anniversary (Iron) 2 with Yana Smakula
Supplies: PTI Quilted Winter, Noted: Scalloped A2 Vertical
Die, Echo Park "Love Winter" PP, silver/white embossing
powders.

Yana's "triple dipping" technique of embossing creates a
gorgeous focal embellishment for her color blocked card!
I really love her idea of making a "handle" for doing the
multiple embossings. It works great! I wanted to use the
die from Quilted Winter but it is not a separate entity.
So I used a stitched snowflake die from Lawn Fawn. I
must have embossed my snowflake at least 5 times, but
could not get all those stitch details covered up. Snowflakes
are not perfect any ways, right?! I do like Yana's technique
tho' it is not new to me. TFL ;)

PTI Stamp-A-Faire 2017, 6th Anniversary (Iron)

87/28/17
6th Anniversary (Iron) with Betsey Veldman
Supplies: PTI Cover Plate: Pretty Frame Die, All Through the
House, PTI Dye Ink (Pinefeather, New Leaf, Pure Poppy,
Scarlet Jewel, Cocoa Bean), MFT Cloud stencil, art basics
Light Paste, Paper Source cardstock (Spruce).

Okay, had trouble with this one. My frame does not look like
iron (looks like some kind of metal but definitely not iron) and
does not have that beautiful patina that Betsey was able to
create. For one thing, my texture paste would not take the
ink and remained kind of whitish. I did not use the same brand
as Betsy...maybe that makes a difference. I also only had a Sunshine Yellow Perfect Pearls on hand. Oh well, I like the
frame any way. It has a certain richness. It seemed to call to
me to create a Christmas card...so that's what I did.  :)

PTI Stamp-A-Faire 2017, 3rd Anniversary (Leather) 2

8/28/17
3rd Anniversary (Leather) 2 with Ashley Cannon Newell
Supplies: PTI Baby Button Bits, Ombre Sentiments: Birthday,
Brushed Off: Rectangle Die, Zig Clean Color.

Trying to catch up on a few early challenges I have not had
a chance to try. For Ashely's technique, I was missing some
glycerin which I finally got. :)   I love the way the "leather"
look is achieved thru this simple method. I embossed my
sentiment which was a bit of a mistake since the stray
embossing powders really show up on the dark brown back-
ground. I knew this was going to be inevitable but I wanted
the sentiment to stand out and did not want to stamp it on an
extra piece of cardstock which would block out the beauty
of the faux leather (so don't look too closely).

PTI Stamp-A-Faire 2017, 5th Anniversary (Wood)

8/2717
5th Anniversary (Wood) with Natasha Trupp
Supplies: PTI autumn scarecrow, Made with Love: Tag 1
Die, small labels die, Sizzix embossing folder (wood
grain), Prismacolor colored pencils, Distress Ink (tea
dye, walnut stain).

Just had to use that cute little scarecrow! Thanks Heather
Nicols! BTW, this card was a happy accident...I had this
scrap piece of kraft cardstock with the tag cut out previously.
I wanted to see if my Sizzix folder would work and how it
would look if I sponged some ink onto it to get that "wood"
look. And well, the rest is history (came out okay, I think).

PTI Stamp-A-Faire 2017, 4th Anniversary (Linen/Silk)

8/27/17
4th Anniversary (Linen/Silk) with Anna Kossakovskaya
Supplies: PTI Beautiful Berries Autumn, XOXO, PTI Dye
Ink (Pure Poppy, Orange Zest, Summer Sunrise, Cocoa
Bean), Stitched Years, Lawn Fawn Happy, Happy, Happy (sentiment), 3" embroidery hoop.

I literally framed my ink stamped Autumn berries wreath on
linen(yes, ink stamped...figured it was fine since this piece
will not be laundered) in a real embroidery hoop. November
will be our daughter #2/her hubby's 4th wedding anniversary.
I made this for them so they could hang it on their Christmas
tree, if they so desire. I was pleasantly surprised how well
the linen takes the dye inks resulting in clear images! :)

PTI Stamp-A-Faire 2017, 2nd Anniversary (Cotton) 2

8/26/17
2nd Anniversary (Cotton) 2 with Michelle Leone
Supplies: PTI Stitched Apple die, felt, Spice Bag
pouches (cotton).

Okay, I cheated a bit by using a premade spice bag.
Pretty sure they are made of cotton and I have many
on hand. I use them for holding plastic pellets to place
in the amigurumi animals that I crochet. I have to find
some nice scents to place in my sachet before
stitching my pouch closed.  :)

PTI Stamp-A-Faire 2017, 2nd Anniversary (Cotton)

8/25/17
2nd Anniversary (Cotton) with Stephanie Gold
Supplies: PTI Re-inker (Hibiscus Burst), Double Ups:
Rectangles dies, Stemmed Statements, Swisspers cotton
rounds, MFT Fabulous Foliage dies, Paper Source Cover
(Lux Grey).

I used my cotton rounds I take my make-up off with instead
of cotton balls. They roll nicely into kind-of a rose shape.
Then I smooshed some Hibiscus Burst re-inker onto the
flower. I also made another rose with Lovely Lady. These
are fun to make but are rather dimensional and get your
fingers quite inky.  >.<

Supplies: PTI Butterfly Coverplate, Distress Ink (shabby shutters, shaded lilac), Distress Oxide (worn lipstick, broken
china), MFT Hugs to You (sentiment), vellum, white glitter
cardstock (Best Creations), misc sequins.

I was too lazy to set up my sewing machine! My butterflies
are attached with TH Tiny Attacher but I covered the mini
staple with some white glitter cardstock bodies.  :)
