PTI MIM: Coordinating Card Pairs

5/30/17 ** Stephanie Gold hosts this last MIM for May. She has created 2 cards with the same stamp set, both similar yet appearing quite different (ingenious)! I feel like we needed to use a floral stamp set with outlines to take this challenge. I searched thru my PTI stash and came up empty handed. I made a couple of tags using Doodled Blooms/Geometric Greenery (MFT). One tag is created by single layer stamping and masking with the blooms colored with Prismacolors. The other tag has the images stamped/heat embossed on colored cardstock, then die cut. Both have green fillers from PTI Celebrate Big. The base is from PTI Made with Love Tags 1 die. It was nice to create a couple of tags this week for a change...which I can always use on my never ending gift-giving (feminine, of course).

Reverse Confetti May 2017 SFYTT#48

5/28/17 ** Bringing up the rear here for Reverse Confetti's Sketch For You to Try...don't know where the month of May went. I was pleased to use RC's Toucan of Friendship! It is
always so much fun to color these toucans, especially with Kuretake Clean Color markers.

PTI May 2017 Blog Hop

5/25/17 ** Rolling right along here with PTI's May Blog Hop and another watercolor inspiration photo. I decided
to make 2 cards for the challenge. For my 1st card, I selected Gran's Garden (becoming one of my favorites) as my floral. I misted my inked images before stamping onto watercolor paper to achieve a "watercolor-look". My background is a TCW stencil sponged with the leaf colors in the inspiration photo. The resulting card came out a bit busy, but then so is the photo.

The second card has a watercolor background. I sponged the ivy with 3 PTI colors and colored the blooms in the same manner as in my 1st card. I added speckles by using a toothbrush. This card was much simpler to create and I was eager to try the Ivy and Bloom set that I just received via snail mail.
TFL and enjoy the May Blog Hop!   :)

Supplies for card 2: PTI Ivy & Bloom, ways to say thank you, PTI dye inks: Aqua Mist, Spring Rain, Blueberry Sky, Sweet Blush, Pale Peony, Berry Sorbet, Scarlet Jewel, Plum Pudding.

PTI MIM: Felt Flowers

5/24/17 ** Lizzie's challenge for us for this weeks MIM involves using flower dies to make felt flowers. This is a refreshing challenge as it does not involve using stamps and gives us another use for our floral dies. :)  I did not buy Kay's Mandala dies (either one) which lead me to hunt thru my
floral dies in my stash. I found a couple of sets that I thought
might work. I also do not own the leaf dies Lizzie used. Used
my Silhouette to cut three sizes of leaves and hand cut the
felt from these.

I first made a couple of barrettes for my soon-to-be new granddaughter even tho it will be awhile before she has
enough hair to wear them. I made them in different colors since they are rather large and probably wouldn't be worn together. Of course, that left me with a few other flowers I had made which seemed to me would make a great jar topper. I have a "Welcome" basket I am planning on giving my daughter when she has her baby. So the jar filled with candy (for mom, of course) and the barrettes will be added to my basket of goodies.
I plan on making some memo boards like Lizzie's too
(way too cute)!     TFL! ;)

Supplies:  PTI Painted Petals dies, Clever Barrette Cover dies, XOXO, Tinsel & Tags (scalloped base).
Misc: MFT Bold Blooms/Doodled Blooms, Silhouette.

MFTWSC #333

5/19/17 ** I attempted to make a teeter-toter with the cute little
koala bears from MFT's Cuddly Koalas using a spinner channel
attachment. I had to place stops (the flowers) so the teeter-toter would not turn into a propeller. It sort of works although the koalas like to stand on their heads if the card is tipped too hard. Oh well, it was a nice idea and hopefully, matches the sketch at least.

Supplies: MFT Cuddly Koalas, Happy Hedgehogs, Birthday Bears
(sentiment), Radiating Rays/Cloud stencils, Lawn Fawn stitched
rectangles/stitched hillsides dies, Copic Sketch.

PTI Create Along with Us, May 2017

5/16/17 ** I have selected Melissa's card to CAS for May's
Create Along with Us challenge. I love all her layers placed
upon the delicate herringbone background (so pretty). My
card came out a little different since I don't have the new
products from this month's release yet...but it looks similar. :)

Supplies: PTI Mix & Mat: Scallops/Flourishes dies, 2017
Anniversary Set, Gran's Garden, dye inks: Aqua Mist, Spring
Moss, Ripe Avocado, Pale Peony, Berry Sorbet, Honey Nut,
Stormy Sea.     Misc: TCW stencil.

5/12/17 ** It's that time of the week again...here is MFT's Wednesday Sketch Challenge.
Mermazing is such a fun set to play with and I love making shaker cards (the two pair well).
I have to find more occasions to make more cards with the theme. Good thing summer is
around the corner. :)

PTI MIM: Background Stamping with Sentiment Stamps

5/10/17 ** Melissa has a great idea for making quick tags for this weeks MIM challenge. She creates backgrounds for tags using stamped sentiments and hers are just elegant (as always). I wanted to try out Kay's Cuddly Cat die. Our daughter #3 is expecting her first in a few weeks. Technically, she won't be a Mom for this Mother's Day, but
I couldn't leave her out this year. She is a lover of cats (just like her mom and dad, she has 2); so I designed this tag just for her. The
grey/black tabby represents one of our's (Meeko).
TFL and Happy Mother's Day!

Supplies: PTI Mix & Mat Scallops die, Kay's Critters: Cuddly Cat, Aqua Mist/Tropical Teal dye inks, Copic Sketch, Lawn Fawn Happy, Happy, Happy.

PTI MIM: Watercolor Wash Backgrounds

5/3/17 ** Laurie has some great tips on working with watercolors as background for this weeks PTI MIM! I still have trouble with using watercolors but I think I'm getting better. I am not comfortable when I don't have control over my work and it comes out however. Such is the nature of watercolor but it's so beautiful when done right.

I tried both of Laurie's methods. My waves card was accomplished by inking my stamp blocks from ink pads
(don't own any re-inkers). Colors attained this way are not as intense. I embossed my waves from What the Doodle: Waves and then applied color with a paintbrush followed by splattering some watered down white & Blueberry Sky. The paper was still a bit wet with the splattered drops and yielded a "mottled" look.

The watercolor look on my second card was achieved thru the Zig Clean Color markers which always create vivid colors and are so easy to use. I layered Betsy's cute Cloche Quarters dome with a spring filler for the inside (love this set) atop my background. Also used some clear cardstock behind the outlined dome for a glass-like look.

Thanks so much for stopping and hope you are having fun with this weeks MIM! :)
BTW, I have ordered a "real" set of Kuretake watercolors that are due to come tomorrow!
You just might see a third card pop up here as I try them out?!! Ha, ha!

Supplies: PTI What the Doodle: Waves; dye inks: Aqua Mist, Spring Rain, Blueberry Sky;
Copic Sketch, water droplets & stitched oval word windows die (from MFT).
Card #2: PTI Cloche Quarters, Cloche Quarters Spring Fillers; dye inks: Blueberry Sky, New Leaf, Ripe Avocado, Lilac Grace, Lavender Moon, Cocoa Bean; Zig Clean Color markers.

MFT Color Challenge #68

5/1/17 * Here is the MFT Color Challenge
for 4/27/17.  I sponged most of the colors
in my card and finally got to use that cute
birdhouse die freebee! Thanks MFT! I did not strictly stick to the the colors within the challenge.

Other supplies: Lawn Fawn flower border/puffy cloud borders/stitched hillside borders/ leafy tree backdrop (landscape).
